The entire roof shines in new armor

Project Description 

In spring 2025, the existing roof of a two-family house in Vechigen was completely renewed and replaced with a modern solar roof system. The old roofing, made of asbestos-containing fiber cement shingles, was professionally removed under strict safety precautions. Personal protective equipment (PPE) was used in accordance with applicable regulations.

Roof Renovation and Solar Integration

After the removal of the old materials, we completely re-insulated and sealed the entire roof from the ground up. In addition, the upper part of the façade was clad with the same roofing panels as the rest of the roof to create a consistently harmonious appearance. The sheet metal work was also carried out by our team. The next step involved preparing the roof surface for the integration of the in-roof solar system from 3S Swiss Solar. The total module area is 77 m² with a roof pitch of 26°. To optimize both aesthetics and performance, the system was complemented with matching dummy modules on the north side.

The following modules were installed in total:

• 52 MegaSlate Black L modules, each with 195 Wp
• 19 MegaSlate Black M modules, each with 145 Wp

The resulting total output of the photovoltaic system amounts to 12.895 kWp. A powerful Huawei SUN2000-15-MB0 inverter is used.

No energy storage system has been installed at this time, but it can be easily retrofitted if needed.

 

Special Features and Challenges

The professional removal of the old asbestos roof posed a special challenge. Thanks to the use of protective suits and appropriate expertise, this phase was carried out safely and efficiently. The installation of the in-roof modules also required precise planning and execution to make optimal use of the roof surface and to ensure a harmonious integration of the dummy modules.

Results and Customer Satisfaction

The system has been commissioned. The owner expressed great satisfaction with the results—both in terms of the aesthetic integration and the technical implementation of the PV system. The new roofing combined with solar power generation provides a sustainable and visually appealing solution for the property.
